Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 49 weeks old!!! It is the last week in the 40's. I can hardly stand it. This getting bigger business is for the birds. I am almost to the age where I can no longer refer to his age in months. It will just be in years. TWO WHOLE YEARS!!! Can someone please explain to me why the past 2 years have gone by so quickly??? BIG SIGH...

Speaking of the 2 year mark, we are supposed to lose Bubba at that point. Heaven's to Betsy I am so dreading that day. I have heard all of the great ideas for getting rid of pacifiers. Sweet Jenny had Addy take her "Bops" to the new babies at Baptist. I can hear Crosby now..."Don't tell me those babies don't have mammas. They can go and buy them their OWN Bubbas. These are mine!!!" He won't care a thing in the world about the needs of newborn infants! I have heard of cutting the tips off of them. Maybe that would work? I don't know. I am seriously dreading it. As a matter of fact, I am considering moving that day back until the end of mother's day out. Is that horrible? Don't answer that...

This week was absolutely nutso. Busy, busy, busy. I had a 10 hour work day on Tuesday. Blake drove to work with the car seat in his car on Tuesday and left us stranded at home. NOTHING was accomplished that day! Well, that isn't true. We did get our tree that night...

We'll take this one...
The boys trying to stay warm by the fire while the tree was being placed in the stand...
Crosby's favorite part of the whole trip was playing in the back of our neighbor's truck. Imagine that...
Happy despite the cold. Thank goodness for trucks!
Things got really crazy on Thursday. I dropped Crosby off at Mother's Day Out and headed to the church to help decorate for the Family Christmas Breakfast. Blake worked on Friday and then headed to Atlanta to watch Auburn play in the SEC Championship. That meant it was just me and Crosby on Saturday. The pictures explain our day pretty well...
At least he was willing to sit for 5 seconds...
If only he would look at me...
See ya!! John Christopher did pretty good when it was his turn...
But then you try to get both of them...
Silly boys. At least there are smiles involved!
I mean, really?? Can we not have one good picture?
We tried getting a mom/son shot. Look how sweet JCLW looks with Joanna...
I suppose this is decent of me and Crosby. Too bad we are looking at another camera.
This on just sums it all up! Would you look at that child's hair?? We never even got to attempt on with Charlotte. Maybe next year?
I would give anything to have Blake join us one of these years. I am never going to get any decent pictures of "Family" Christmas Breakfast if I am always going by myself! Come on SEC. Check your calendar with ours next year!
I wanted to take more pictures of the decor, seeing how I spent quite a few hours working on them. I never got a chance. But I did get to snap one of the manger. Crosby just loves seeing "Baby Jesus". I do too. Beautiful...

After that wild morning, I had to stall nap time a bit. He had a birthday party to attend at 12:30! We headed down to Goofballs in Franklin to celebrate Colten's birthday! Crosby was all about the bat mobile...
And every other car he could get his hands on!
Crosby in his Santa racing suit!!
The birthday boy! Happy Birthday Colten... a little early! His mamma is ready to have his little brother, Liam, any day now! Colten is just 8 days older than Crosby. He is going to be a big brother very soon...
Crosby was a big fan of the carousel
We had a Christmas Pajama Party Saturday night. Seeing how Crosby didn't even make it into bed until 3:00, I had to wake him up at 6:00 so we could go. Crosby and JCLW had on coordinating PJs. We tried to take a picture of that. Yea. That worked out for us...
At least we tried!
And I must say I am not sure about the hair in pictures. Looks pretty blah to me...
We had a birthday party on Sunday afternoon at Monkey's Treehouse. Miss Margaret was there. Isn't she a doll...Crosby enjoyed playing with the dinosaurs. Now that's a change!
Being an elephant...
Today was pretty low key. We spent most of the day at home. Looking at books is always a favorite...
Sometimes he likes to read them himself. And believe it or not, he can pretty much read half of them. Not word for word. But he gets the point across!! Pretty funny...
Other times, he likes to bring them ALL to me! "Lap, mama. Please. Read."
Then I asked him if I could take his picture by the tree. He ran over and did this...
Not bad! There she is...
I think it is the prettiest one we have ever had! And there she is at night, with all her lights glowing...
I managed to get that done during naps and after staying up until 2:00 Friday and Saturday night. Let's hope this week is a little calmer..

I'm completely with you on losing the "bubba." I was reaaalllyy dreading the day we had to give it up too. We also had a deadline of the 2 year B-day. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Hope it goes just as easy for you! :-)

I have NO advice for you on Bubba! I can't even think about losing Paci! My motto these days..."whatever works"...as in, whatever works for you and works for Crosby is what is right. Everybody and every baby is different! Not the cross I want to die on that's for sure!

We had a situation about the bubba that worked great for us. With several black labs around the house, we just blamed the dogs (poor Nugget) and that satisfied Kelly that it was "all gone", never to be seen again!
Good Luck,
Ginny and Dale Eckert
