Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 17 weeks old!!! His 79th week of life started out rough. As I was typing last Monday, the scene behind me looked like the picture above. Somebody had a fever of 103.3. It hung around for 48 hours or so before he was back to normal. Who knows what it was. Fortunately, it was short lived. But I will admit, we kind of like feverish Crosby. Feverish Crosby sits in your lap and cuddles. We kind of miss those days. Our little man doesn't have time for all of that anymore. You know, now that he is a big boy. Sigh... He has too much running around to do! On Wednesday, we kept thinking of things we should have done with Feverish Crosby. Like clip his nails. You know things that work better when he sits still. Oh well. Missed opportunity! Seriously, we are thankful it was nothing serious and he is back to his busy 'ole self.

I have a hard time keeping Crosby awake much past 11:00 on days we are stuck indoors. We had our share of meltdowns before 11:00. He doesn't understand why we can't play outside when it is cold and wet. He does not care that is cold and wet. He thinks we should go outdoors anyway. There is only so long he can sit and do this...

Who can blame him?? I am glad that this little boy still loves to read. Earlier in the week, he had a pile of books lying in the floor. I told him to "bring Dimity Duck to me" so I could read it to him. He looked through the pile, grabbed Dimity Duck and crawled up into my lap. Once we finished, he crawled out of my lap and got down off the couch. I said, "Get your truck book." He sorted through the pile until he found his truck book. Then he brought it over to me. Repeat with "animal book", "Goodnight Moon" and "Snuggle Puppy." I was pretty impressed with the little fella. It is so amazing to see just how much he is storing away in that head of his!

And it is a pretty cute head, if I do say so myself!!! Even when the focus is a little off...

Just when his toys were starting to get boring, my saving grace arrived. We could hear it coming. I love the look of "Is that what I think it is?????"
Followed by a little smirk of a face saying, "Yep! That IS what I think it is!!!!!!!!"
I snapped that picture and took of running. I snatched that boy up out of the floor and headed out the front door to catch this...
If you can't tell, Monday's are trash pickup days. Let's just say we are getting to know the 2 men who operate this PDQ truck! We are on the lookout for them every Monday between 10 and 11...
Oh, and when we hear them come up our street, it is intense...

I'm talking serious business for this little man...
There is no point in talking to him because he can't hear you. He is focused on one thing and it ain't me!!!
This boy LOVES him some trucks!!!I'll end with a little clip of our "conversation" earlier today. He is starting to have more and more of these every day. What I would give to know what he is saying. But I bet there are sometimes it is good for him that I DON'T know what he is trying to say...if you know what I mean!!!

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 16 weeks old!!! I know. My formatting is all out of whack this week. But I couldn't help it. I LOVE the pictures that other people took of my little man this week. I had to steal a few from Facebook because the files were too big for my email
account. And I really wanted them on this post. Then I wanted the first picture, first. But the others sort of go with it. So I didn't want to separate them. So I put 4 pictures before I started typing as opposed to my typical 1. Change is good. Right?
We have had beautiful weather the past week or so. Sunday was no exception. I was so happy to see blue skies for the March of Dimes Walk this year. Last year, it was raining and nasty so we stayed home. This year, Crosby and I met the Rick Family at Centennial Park to help support a wonderful cause. Melissa was on the ball and set up a team to raise money for the MOD in memory of sweet James Walter and in honor of Miss Margaret Belle. There were tons of families out doing the same for their loved ones and friends. See...
And there were a ton of people in front of us, too! It was pretty inspiring to be there. Here is to Team Malone, joining Team Rick in 2011!! I am pretty pumped already!
Crosby had a good 'ole time running around the park after our 2 mile walk. Or more like his 2 mile stroll! Melissa got some great pictures of my little love...
We walked back to our car with the Spencers but decided to hang out on a picnic blanket, enjoy watching airplanes fly over and pointing to all the cars/trucks that drove by. And then the icing on the cake was the fire truck that stopped for admirers like Crosby! He was beyond thrilled to see the big red engine parked right in front of him!
Jason S. took the black and white photos at the top of the page, which I LOVE. Did I mention that already? I pointed to Danielle's belly and told Crosby baby Jackson was in there. Then I asked him to give baby Jackson a kiss. And he DID!!!! Over and over and over and over. It was the most precious thing I have ever seen. He was so proud of himself. When I get my hands on those files, I will have to do a post on those pictures alone...
For now, just a few bigger pictures that I took. We have been seeing a lot of this squished up face look lately...
Every now and then we get normal face Crosby...
He kept trying to put on my sunglasses. Our heads just aren't the same size!
But he still had fun trying to make them fit!!!
As if he didn't have enough outside time, we went to a playground after the park. No, he is not spoiled...
Or maybe he is. I failed to mention the peanut butter fudge milkshake we got from Sonic on our way to the park...
He liked it!!!
But who am I kidding. That part was really for me!

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 15 weeks old!!! It was another crazy busy week. I am thinking this whole spring/summer is going to be the more of the same! At least busy means fun times for Crosby. For example...

We decided last Tuesday was the perfect day for a family trip to the Nashville Zoo. It was the first time the three of us have been able to go together. Crosby and I have been a couple of times but Blake has always had to work. Since he was off on Tuesday and the weather was BEAUTIFUL, we spent the afternoon looking at lots of animals. Crosby loved it. And looked adorable while loving it, I might add!

Admiring the fish...

Out of focus but love that face...
All flushed from running around inside the Unseen New World...
Blake holding him up for a closer look at a sting ray...
Crosby was a little hesitant with the Critter Encounters...
Cautious grin...
He finally relaxed and touched the goat...
He was content to let Blake pet this one.
I didn't take a picture of his favorite encounter of all. It was a bobcat. And not the kind that could have eaten him for dinner. It was more like this one. The kind he could ride. Had we known that was what he would get so excited over, we could have spent the day at a Kubota dealership. Maybe tomorrow?!?!
I tried to wrestle him down for one picture with me at the Jungle Gym. I sat him on a hippo's back (not a real one...) and he nearly slid right off. He was a wild man while we were there, moving non-stop. On our last visit, he kept trying to crawl out of the play area. Now, he just walks away! Oh, the days of immobility...
We had such a great time, we left with a zoo membership. I think we will be spending a lot more time with these animals in the future!! Very exciting!
Our next big event was on Saturday. Crosby went to his very first...MULE DAY!!!! I know, it sounds pretty classy, right? But I promise, it really is kind of fun. Kiddos absolutely LOVE Mule Day. At least this one sure did...
We didn't go last year because he was still so little. Blake had to work that weekend anyway and I wanted him to be there for Crosby's first Mule Day. So this year, we had big plans. Blake took off the first weekend in April just for the big event. Too bad Mule Day is the first weekend in April UNLESS the first weekend falls on Easter! I mean, I am really glad Blake was off Easter weekend. I just wish he could have been with us for Mule Day, too. Maybe the third time will be the charm. We've got big plans...next year! We had a good time despite Blake's absence...
He was soooooo excited to see this big, red machine coming his way... He didn't know who this woman was but I thought it was funny to see Naomi Judd as the grand marshal! See, it is very classy...
There is even a Mule Day Queen! Crosby thought she was beautiful...
Cloggers on a float...
There are no words for this one...
But I loved this! The Beverly Hillbillies!!!! Fitting I suppose...
Crosby and John Christopher sporting my first attempt at an applique shirt. With help from Lucy, of course...
The mommas and the boy at Mule Day. And yes, that is poo behind us. And yes, the aroma filled the air... While my pictures may be sub-par this week, the videos are hilarious!!! I have been trying to and trying to catch Crosby's newest trick. I finally did! Let's just say, he is starting a new language...

We try and try to imitate him but fail miserably every time! I could hear him say that all day long. What a silly little man we have! Love him to pieces...
