Mondays with Crosby and Jane Claire

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 3 years and 38 weeks old!!!  At 1:03 pm, Jane Claire turned 25 weeks old!!!  All of a sudden, Crosby is all about taking his picture with Jane Claire when I take weekly her pictures. No pulling of chipped teeth is even required!!  I hate to be redundant with my opening picture but he complies.  So I've gotta go with it!  At least I get to see what they look like side by side week after week.  It is a new perspective picture in and of itself!!

We spent most of the week settling back into some sort of routine again.  Vacation is so much fun until it ends!!  Most of our bags were unpacked the day we got home.  It was just trying to get Miss Priss to remember how she slept way back one week ago!!  The first few nights, I was up 4 & 5 times a night.  She even made her way back into our bed a few times.  Yikes!!!  Knowing we had a slight problem, I pulled a baby sleep book out of the closet and started reading.  40 pages in, I knew what would be required to reset her system.  And it did not involve a button to push.  I knew it would require crying.  And I did NOT want to do it.  But, I had no choice.  She was a mess and so was I!!!  We kind of got forced into due to circumstances on Thursday night.  What circumstance you ask??  One clue...
Thursday night was our first trip to the ER!!!  Oh heavens!!!  Sweet boy and his Daddy were upstairs in the bonus room and I was downstairs talking to my aunt on the phone.  I heard a little crying and assumed Crosby was protesting Blake's requests to head toward bed.  Then Blake yelled for me and said I needed to come quickly.  That is never good!!  When I got upstairs, Crosby and Blake were on the couch and Crosby was in some serious pain, tears rolling down those cheeks.  He was guarding his left arm and could not flex/extend his elbow, grip my finger or even lift his arm.  Apparently Blake was helping Crosby off the chair, Crosby went limp (as he often does), Blake was holding him by the left arm and then there was pain.  Uh oh.  Our first thought was nurse maids elbow. But what if it was a break?!?  Only one way to know for sure.  We finally got Crosby calmed down and strapped into the car.  FORTUNATELY, LeAnne was hanging out with us and offered to stay with Jane Claire so we could both go to the hospital.  (She was sleeping when I left...)  Long story short, we registered and were seen by a triage nurse.  He manipulated Crosby's arm a bit and he tolerated it really well, my precious, brave boy.  He made a little splint for him to wear until we were called back.  We didn't even sit down before we were called!  We were taken to this room, where his BP, temp, O2 sats, weight, etc were taken...
Crosby was quite and reserved for all of 45 seconds before he warmed up to the new room and staff.  Next thing you know he was talking with the Vanderbilt staff like they were BFFs. "Is that a blood pressure?"  The nurse was kinda shocked when he knew that.  You would think she would have then used the proper terminology when he asked "What is that?" while coming at him with a thermometer.  She started to say "it measures your body temperature..."  when I said, "It's a thermometer." Ah, yes! It is just a little different than the ones we use at home, good for him!!!  Then he asked if the stethoscope tweeted like a bird!!  (Apparently he thinks it is Dr. P's stethoscope that tweets as opposed to Dr. P himself!  Hilarious...) It was around this time I noticed him moving his fingers and even started to bear a little weight through that left arm.  Hmmm...

We were sent back into the waiting area until we were called by radiology.  We waited another 15 minutes or so before being called.  During that time, Crosby REALLY started moving that left arm around.  Blake and I looked at each other slightly perplexed.  Were we not in the ER due to a painful left arm??  One that Crosby could not actively move???  Should we just leave so we don't have to pay for that x-ray??? When he took the splint off himself, we were pretty sure he, or the triage nurses, had corrected the problem.  But just in case, we decided to stay.  We were called and escorted to radiology.  By that time Crosby was clearly fine.  They took the splint of and positioned his arm with no pain whatsoever!!!  This is the image we got...

Yep.  Looks like a perfectly normal arm to me!!! ;-)  We were escorted upstairs to meet with the doctor once the films were review.  We didn't really need them to be reviewed.  You will see why...
Sorry that is sideways!  Don't know how to rotate the videos from Blake's phone!  Anyway, our assumptions were confirmed.  All was well. The doctor agreed it was most likely a nurse maid's elbow injury that corrected itself without intervention!  Basically we spent a lot of time and money to get a picture of Crosby's arm and an orange popsicle!!! ;-)  All kidding aside, we are soooo thankful for our outcome.  There were so many little ones in the waiting room at Vanderbilt that night.  It broke my heart to see and hear all of the sweet children that were needing treatment.  I felt bad that we were even taking up the doctors time.  But everyone was so very nice, making our first trip to the ER as pleasant as at trip to the ER could be!

We headed back home and Crosby passed out in the car.  Blake transferred him straight to his bed with no problem.  Jane Claire, however, was a different story.  LeAnne had her out of her bed, wrapped up and going full force in the swing.  Apparently she woke up screaming shortly after we left!!  Of course.    She would NOT go back down for LeAnne until she put her in the swing!!  Little turkey knows what she is doing!! ;-)  Sooo, I got her out, took her upstairs, fed her and put her back in bed, knowing she was exhausted.  She was crying within 30 minutes of me laying her down. Ahhhh.  It continues.  So I had to do it.  She had to cry.  And cry she did.  And cry.  And cry.  And cry.  Take a breather. And cry.  And cry.  And cry.  Take a breather. And cry. And cry. AND CRY!!!!  Talk about breaking my heart over and over and over.  I think I finally went in there after three hours, feed her and she went to sleep until 8:00 the next morning.  Holy Moly what a night!!

Friday night I got her in bed by 7:00.  She started out great.  I thought we were home free.  Then 10:30 came.  And she started to cry.  And cry.  And cry. And cry.  I eventually turned the monitor down and dozed off for a while.  Only to wake up and find her still crying.  Ahhhh.  I wanted to cry with her.  I am pretty sure I did.  People claim in takes 3 nights of this torture for them to get it.  Well, I didn't think I could take one more night of it.  Have you seen that precious baby's face?  Yeah.  Who in their right mind could let that adorable thing lie in her bed and cry for THREE nights in a row??

Saturday night came and I was dreading it.  I got her down around 7:00 and she stayed asleep for a while.  Then she started.  And ended within 5 minutes.  Woah?!? What?  So I turned the lights out and went on to sleep.  The monitor was on so I could hear her and knew it would happen.  But it was silent.  All night.  She was in bed from 7p-7a!!!!!  We made it!!!  She made it!!!  Hallelujah!!! She MADE IT!!!  And to top that off, she made it Sunday night too!!  Whoohoooo!!!

Now, let me say, my goal was not necessarily to have her sleep through the night.  If she needed to eat once or even twice a night, I was okay with that.  But I knew that was not the case.  She did not need to eat the 6-8 times she was waking up each night.  She just could not soothe herself back to sleep.  We had created a sleep monster while we were on vacation.  But KNOCK ON WOOD, we have turned the corner!!!  We shall see...

Back to Saturday, we had a little fun that afternoon at least!  Blake is playing in a men's soccer league this fall.  We all went out to watch him play.  The weather was BEAUTIFUL so it was lovely to be outdoors.

My sweet little princess watching her daddy diving around like he is still 18 or something...
Bless her heart.  At least she can still smile after the drama of the past 2 nights...
She is just a doll...
Even if her recent sleep patterns are wearing me out! ;-)
Would you look at this cool cat??
He was serious about watching his daddy play soccer...
Cutest chipped-tooth grin I have ever seen...
Oh how I love this boy...
Most people are posting pictures of their kiddos playing soccer.  Not me.  I am posting pictures of the hubs!!!
I kinda got chill bumps watching him play.  That yellow shirt took me back to the good ole days.  Saturdays on the hillside at Centre College.  The team walked out to Braveheart one year.  Last of the Mohicans another.  I could almost hear the music playing.  They would walk out two by two, Blake with his jersey thrown over his shoulder.  I was as giddy as a kid in a candy store.  Heart racing any time the ball was near Blake's end of the field.  "That is MYYYYY boyfriend!!! Aren't you all jealous?!?" is what I was yelling inside.  They all knew I was the luckiest girl on the sidelines.  For his sake, I kept my mouth shut.  Ahhhhhhhh.  Those were the days...
Wait?!? Where was I?  Oh yes, 2 kids later.  We were watching Daddy play soccer.  And this little fella was running around, trying to be just like his father...
Melt my heart...
I can only hope he turns out just like his father.  Crosby sure is watching every move he move he makes...
On Sunday, we headed down to Columbia after church for lunch with my parents.  Justin, Katie and Harper had been at the Otter Creek Family Retreat all weekend and were there as well.  Of course I was a photo slacker and didn't take many pictures that day.

Jane Claire and Pop...
A little lovin' from Pop...
I spent most of that afternoon trying to get this babe to take a nap.  Imagine that!  Although she slept ALL NIGHT LONG, she was exhausted from being at church.  She wasn't about to give in for nap time though.  I guess she knew that meant I would be able to eat in peace!  She wanted to be a part of the lunch time talk!  She finally went down for a little while after lunch and I got to spend some time outdoors with my boy...
Cutie patootie...
And there is Miss Harper, playing with her daddy's phone...
Or eating it!
Jane Claire finally went down for a little while after lunch and I got to spend some time outdoors with my boy.  We took his bike out for a ride.  I made him pose under the street with his same name...
Crosby with, Justin, Katie, Harper and Maybel!  What?  You don't see them?  They are in that silver Honda Pilot! ;-)
"See you later!"
Apparently he thinks he is safe driving while looking the opposite direction!
We spent Monday hanging out at home!  I loved Jane Claire in that blue dress so much, I put her back in it for this weeks pictures.  She looks adorable in blue, don't you think...
And this little fella...
He is growing like a weed these days.
He is not a toddler any more.  He is a boy.  A real boy!!!  "Mommy, I know you want me to stop growing.  But I just can't do that."
Sigh.

My favorite part of Jane Claire's outfit were the shoes.  They were Charlotte's.  I love them then and I love them now...
Jane Claire's feet don't fill them quite as nicely!! ;-)  But they are about the cutest things I have ever seen...
 Jane Claire at 25 weeks...

Fingers crossed for a good night for this sweet babe... ;-)

Mondays with Crosby and Jane Claire

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 3 years and 37 weeks old!!!  At 1:03 pm, Jane Claire turned 24 weeks old!!!  I would talk about how amazed I am at how quickly time is passing by and how it breaks my heart that it is going so incredibly fast but I don't have time for all of that.  We are at the BEACH!!! I will whine when we get back home and normal life resumes!!!  Based on the above statement, we will be home before I know it...

On Tuesday, we headed back to the beach club for a day full of swimming.  Well.  Almost everyone did a little swimming.  Somebody spent much of the day snoozing away.  That may have something to do with the fact there she was completely out of sorts at night.  Ahhhh...

She wasn't the only one who was out of sorts sleep wise.  Crosby went to bed super late most nights and skipped naps most days.  And to top that off, he slept on a mattress, on the floor bedside Blake! (not because there wasn't room elsewhere...we just wanted to keep mess to a minimum!) Did I mention Jane Claire was in a pack-n-play in the closet?!?  ;-) Fun times!  Next year, we may stick both of them out in the guest house by themselves. Don't worry.  We would lock the door! ;-)

Back to the pool...Crosby soaked up all of the pool time with his daddy.  There was lots of laughter coming from these two all day long...
Crosby only had his puddle jumper on when Blake wasn't in the water with him.  Which was rarely!  He is basically a fish now.  He was swimming all over the place.  He can even dive down to the bottom to pick up toys...
Now.  Would you just look at this...
The boy LOVED having Blake off of work and at his side all week long!  Just too precious...
And here is a picture of "The Beach Family" as Crosby calls them!  Wes, Davis, Jessica and Eva...
Wes and Eva...
Jessica and Davis...
Miss Eva...
And Mr. Fish, Crosby.  This was the first and last day he wore his new blue goggles!  I am pretty sure we left them at the bottom of the pool when we left that day.  Good thing I bought a second pair of clear ones.  The blue were more fun...
So I just had to share this one!!!  Crosby's facial expression makes me laugh out loud!!  We are seeing a lot more of these faces these days.  Not sure this is a good thing.  And I am pretty sure I know who he is getting it from... :-/
Now that is a little sweeter don't you think? ;-)
Speaking of sweet, Davis is about as sweet as they come.  He is one mellow little boy! And as cute as can be...
Blake and Crosby had to kick the soccer ball around a bit...
I got him to stop long enough to take one picture with me...
And then sleeping beauty woke up and got her picture taken with me too!  See, I was there...
We decided to drag all of the equipment out to the beach to build sandcastles.  Yea.  That didn't go so well.  You may or may not be able to tell why in this picture...
The wind was pretty intense.  In fact, the water was pretty rough while we were there.  There were rip tide warnings up on the news even.  I barely stepped foot in the ocean.  Blake and Crosby tried boogie boarding but only lasted 10 minutes!  Building sand castles didn't last much longer.  I had to haul Jane Claire and her tent back up to the pool.  She did not care for the wind that attempted to send her sailing down the beach!  These two toughed it out a little longer than we did...
Can you tell there was a slight breeze??
No need to worry.  Fun was to be had back at the pool...
Nothing like a game of "Toss the Boy"...
Here is a picture of the MUCH improved splinter hand!  (see last weeks post for details...I just added those in because they were on a different camera!)
Being in the water all day helped work out a few more of the smaller splinters.  Poor thing!  It didn't phase him in the least!

GranBuddy and Lulu spent the day in Savannah.  They ate dinner before they headed home so we attempted dinner with a napless Crosby.  It didn't go over so well...
I snapped that picture BEFORE he gagged on his dinner and lost the whole thing in Blake's hand!  And Blake took this lovely, out of focus picture of me and Jessica before the yarfing, too.  Notice anything similar...

We walked out of our rooms, dressed for dinner, only to realize we were actually wearing the SAME dress!  Only is different colors!  How funny is that!?!  We had no idea the other had the dress, much less that we were putting it on at the same time!  Too funny.

Davis enjoyed his night despite watching the big boy loose his meal!

On Wednesday, the boys headed out for a game of golf.  That left the girls an home with all the kiddos!  We were out numbered for sure.  We decided to take them all out for a bike ride...
I had Crosby and Eva behind me and Jane Claire strapped to me!
My caboose...
Jessica had Davis strapped to her...
Needless to say, we got a little workout on our adventure!  When we got back, I got a little crafty and made something special for my music man...
He needed a microphone for his concerts!!  Pretty clever, no!?!  I was impressed with myself.  He LOVED it!

We spent Thursday on Jekyll Island.  We went to the Sea Turtle Center and got to see a few turtles that were there for rehabilitation.  I am hoping Jessica got a few good pictures I can add to this later.  We got to watch the veterinary staff placing a tracking device on an alligator.  Then they performed debridement on the shell of a really large turtle.  It was such a neat place.  We headed to a nearby hotel to eat lunch. And snap a few pictures.  Jessica has most of those too!  We will get it organized one of these years.  For now, mine and Lucy's will suffice!

The boys waiting for lunch.  Wait.  Did we catch GranBuddy taking a pre-meal bite of that cinnamon roll??? ;-)
The Edenfields waiting for lunch!
My wild man...
What a little ham...
We ran around the property after lunch, talking pictures of the kiddos!  And we got a few cute ones with the adults too!  Lulu and Crosby...
Too sweet...
Eva and Crosby sittin' in a tree... Oh waaait.  I don't think I like where that was going!!!!  Nevermind...
Just plain old Crosby sittin in a tree...  Yes.  Much better! ;-)
Are these not the most beautiful trees ever.  Oh what I would give to have one of these in my yard...
Crosby and his Daddy...
Little Bit didn't get any pictures in the tree.  She is just a tad small!  But she sure did look cute on Lulu's bed...
Later that night, Jessica and I had a smocking lesson with Lulu...
Let's see if I will ever get around to making that dress for my sweet girl!?!  I have to...

Then it was Friday.  The day Lulu and GranBuddy had to leave.  Oddly enough, Jane Claire and I were up at 5:30, right when they were packing up!  Oh, what a rough night...  I decided to turn it into a positive and headed out on the beach to see the sunrise.  Lulu had done it almost every day so she knew what time to tell me.  We got out there a tad early and strolled a bit...
It was a cloudy morning so it wasn't a pretty a sight as I had hoped for.  But we were blessed with the most amazing gift that morning.  It had something to do with these little friends...

Are they not the most precious things you have ever seen???  Lucy had seen someone out checking the nest the morning before.  When I saw a girl ride on to the beach, heading straight toward the nest, I knew she was probably checking for hatchlings.  Jane Claire and I hustled to see what she had in her hands.  She was able to retrieve around 15 baby turtles from the nest.  There were even more that weren't quite ready.  What a special treat it was to see this little ones being released into the ocean...

 6 baby turtles...
Look at its sweet little tracks...
 Finally reached the water!
So did this one!
Up close...
And a video of the little one practicing for its big swim!
Headed home...
Taken off to sea...
So who cares that the sunrise wasn't all that pretty?!?
We had a great walk on the beach that morning!!! :-)

Friday was a low key day.  We did head out to the beach that night in an attempt to get family pictures. Crosby and Eva looked too cute hand in hand!  Crosby was carrying his "Goodbye Letter" Lulu left for him.  Too sweet...

I was able to snap one decent picture of my kiddos!
Jessica has all of the real pictures!  Maybe I will share those one of these days too!

Jane Claire was up early again on Saturday.  So we headed out to see the sunrise again.  It was a little less cloudy but still not the greatest sunrise ever!  The Edenfields joined us, hoping to see more turtle action.  No such luck...
 Farewell beach!

We boarded our plane and headed back to Nashville around noon.  No delays this time! Nice and easy flight!  It was sad to leave our friends and the beach we love.  It was nice to be back in our beds.  And our ROOMS!!  :-)  Until next year...

We spent Sunday with the Malone crew, including Jason, Kerri, Sam and Gid.  Had I realized they would be in town, I would have taken pictures!!!  We had not seen them in months!  We had a great time with them, as usual.  Oh for it to happen more often...

I think I will wrap up this incredibly long post!  Of course I have a picture of my girl...
 Jane Claire at 24 weeks!!!
Let's hope this week involves a little more sleep sweet girl... ;-)
