Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 22 weeks old!!! 17 whole months!!! If you can't tell, we are celebrating this week outside of Tennessee! WAAAAAY outside of Tennessee!! In Cancun Mexico to be exact!

Unfortunatnely, this is not the trip we had planned. We had to leave half of the family in Atlanta due to confusion with passports vs passport cards. The whole thing has been heartbreaking... Then to make things a little more difficult, Crosby has had a fever the past 2 days. Just what you what to have on vacation. A sick baby. In Mexico. Yikes! Let's hope he is feeling better in the am...

A quick peek at our little beach bum...

I will have to keep this short because I am on a public computer, as wireless is not working in our room. Just know we are here, having a good time despite a rough start to our vacation. We are just really missing those who aren't with us... Hope to share more pictures and info soon!

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 21 months old!!! I am just realizing that "21" part! My goodness, I think year 2 is going faster than year 1. Uggggghhhh. Can somebody PLEASE slow this process...please??? He even looks like a little boy in these pictures. It is just not right...

Preparing to leave the US for a week seems much harder when a near 17 month old is in the picture! There is so much to think about. Do we take the monitor? The sound machine is going for sure. What toys do we take for the plane? I suppose he need ear phones for the DVD player on the plane. How many books should we take? We will just take enough diapers to get us there and then buy what we need for the rest of the week. What swim vest is best? You get the idea. So many questions have been running through my mind. So many things I need to get before we leave. That means we have been on the go ALL WEEK LONG. Trying to get it all done before Friday.

Today's start was pretty typical. He read a few books after breakfast. He still loves them. I mean LOVE them...

We've seen this before. Him in the armoire, reach for the books in the very back...
Pulling out EVERYTHING in the process. Can you even find Crosby? It is almost looks like a page in a "Where's Waldo" book...
Then we headed out on an errand run. Things were okay in the produce section...
Then I had the bright idea to remove bubba in the frozen food section. Not such a good idea. He was so over Walmart! You would think he was being abused by the look of this face...
"Just give me my bubba"...
So pitiful! I gave it back and he was fine. Although I am thinking he was trying to point to the door!
I tried telling him this will all be worth it very soon. Once we are playing in the sand on a beach in Cancun. He didn't really care at the moment. Ohhhh, but he will understand soon enough!
I let him stretch his legs in the great outdoors once we got home...
He has found the sand less sandbox part of the swing set. He looked pretty sweet crawling in and out...
He also loves crawling in and out of these chairs. Not the safest game he plays! Does he not look soooo big sitting there???
Then he went for a ride on his truck...
"Is that not a weed eater," you ask?? Nope. That is a truck, according to Crosby. I don't have the heart to tell him otherwise...
We got this lovely vest while we were at Walmart, hoping it will keep him above water! Blake thought he looked like a little sumo wrestler...
And proceeded to "box" him in the abs. Of course Crosby thought it was so funny. But he was so off balance that he couldn't stay on his feet...
Showing off his "abs"...
After a 3 1/2+ hour nap, he woke up to find this sweet little girl smiling at him...
He and Miss Charlotte spent the afternoon playing together. We are so excited to have a full week of cousin time!!!
Of course, I am planning to take the computer with us. I can't skip a Monday! And I think it will help me document our vacation! So you should be hearing from us...

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 20 weeks old!!! The week started out pretty hectic but calmed down a little in the middle. I foresee things picking back up as we countdown our trip to the beach. All the ladies in the family have been forbidden to make any plans 3 days prior to our departure. I guess that means I better get things in order! Starting with the purchase of a new suitcase to replace the one I donated to flood victims. Then I have got to come up with the perfect floatation device for our wild child. I hear we are going to spend lots of time at the pool so we better prepare. I may or may not have considered a child leash for this busy boy!! ;) Okay, I haven't but we could probably put one to good use!

I have been a slacker, once again with the ole Canon this week. I did manage to snap a few pictures today as we were grilling dinner and playing outside. Have I mentioned Crosby loves being outdoors? He could care less about the weather or the temperature. He wants to be free from the confinement of walls. Can't say that I blame him! Playing with bubbles is one of his favorite activities at the moment. He can even say "bubble" pretty clearly...

We think it sounds pretty cute! And it evokes kickin' dance moves!!! I caught him doing his his new thing. Walking with his hands behind his back. It might look sweet but I bet there is trouble running through that head of his...
Having a little fit. Ahhh, gotta love tantrums...
We finally lost the scab over his left eye on Saturday. But he managed to fall into a fence today and has a nice scratch on his forehead and a bruise on his right cheek. Poor muffin can't win for losing...
Showing us his boat...
Showing us his head...

Pointing to an airplane...
Just cheesing!!!
This is a video from our trip to South Carolina. Jessica had this boy belly laughing with pig sounds. He kept trying to do it himself but just managed to squinch up his nose and mouth over and over. That is why we now call that his "pig face"...

And finally, we'll leave you with a video of one of our conversations. We have been having lots of them lately. If only I could figure out what he thinks he is saying...

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 19 weeks old!!! Let's just jump right in this week with the hot topic in Crosby's life. He got his first bloody injury! I had the little fella playing outside Wednesday afternoon. He likes to go up and down 2 deck stairs and does it all the time. On this occasion, he was standing right next to the edge of the deck. Next thing you know, his right foot slid off, his bottom goes back like he is going to sit and his head whams straight down on the edge of the step. Of course, I tried to snatch him up mid-fall but was just too slow. He looks up and as blood over his left eye. The cut seemed pretty deep and I wasn't sure if stitches would be necessary. So, I threw him in the car (with a urine soaked diaper, no shoes and a shirt full of stains from lunch...looking trashy, in other words) and headed to the pediatrician's office. I tried calling them on the way but could never get anyone to answer the medical advice line. I pulled up to the door only to realize it was closed due to flooding. Fortunately, a second office is located a few miles away and it was open. We walked in as the doors were closing but 2 doctors were gracious enough to stay and see him. After holding him down and cleaning him up, they decided the cut was just superficial enough that neither stitches nor glue was indicated. So back home we went. It looked a little better once it was cleaned up...All closed up by Day 2!
Of course Blake tells Crosby his scar is "awesome" and he looks "so cool"! He says it will go perfectly with his hockey uniform some day... Ummmm, I don't even think so. I prefer my child keep his teeth and nose intact, thank you! Even if I am the one who let this happen in the first place. It just breaks my heart to see that sweet little face all banged up!

We had a busy weekend. My mom and I went to a Mother's Day brunch at her church. We had a great time and the food was delicious. I have a new favorite recipe for carrots!!! Are you working on that, Mom???
After driving too and from Columbia, we drove out to Dickson for a birthday party. Crosby loved being in another jumping cage!

Blake was trying to help out a few neighbors so it was just the two of us. That makes it nearly impossible to get pictures. I need to grow a few more arms or something. Let's just say Crosby made himself right at home in every room of their house. And the outdoors as well!

He was saying, "Happy Birthday, Kate!!!!"

We got home from the birthday party, and Blake had the bright idea to pull out leftover Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Just what Crosby needed...after a birthday party....where he had birthday cake... Can you tell what color the icing was??

At least it wasn't blood red!!! Crosby thought it was HILARIOUS and actually smiled when I took his picture...
Of course, we all had to partake in the fun...

Too bad I didn't think to give some to Nugget!!! Oh well. That sure would have been a funny sight. Though I am sure it would not have been recommended by the vet. Then again, I am pretty sure blue dye is not recommended for humans either!
We spent Sunday with each of our moms. The Cyrs and Malones with Lucy...

Justin, Me and Cros with my mom...This has been a difficult week for Nashville and much of Middle Tennessee. The destruction is unbelievable. Pictures don't do it justice. Lots of families are hurting in our city. Please continue to pray for our community as we try and help each other pick up the pieces and rebuild lives from scratch. More to come on this topic...

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 18 weeks old!!! This week, we have the edited version of Crosby! I have never been a big fan of photo editing on a general basis. I mean, sure, photographers should do it because you pay them for great pictures. But to edit everyday pictures of your kiddo?? I am just not sure how I feel about it. At least I wasn't sure until I got to play with Lightroom. Let me just say Lightroom is pretty addictive. Now that I have tinkered with a few pictures from this week, I REALLY want Lightroom for myself. When is my birthday? Oh yea, that was in March. So I guess I could shoot for my anniversary. Surely the 10 years of wedded matrimony warrants a gift of that caliber!?!?!? One can wish!

I got to play with Lightroom tonight because we are visiting my sweet, sweet friend, Jessica, in South Carolina. She and her hubby, Wes, just welcomed this little one into their family and we had to get our hands on her...
Meet Eva Wren. Is she a beauty or what? I have so enjoyed snuggling with this little one for the past few days. Kinda makes me miss the newborn stage. If you recall, Jessica took all of the pictures of Crosby the day he came home from the hospital. What a special friend to fly to Nashville, even though Crosby was in the NICU, and stay up until the LAST second so she could take pictures for me. It was the least we could do to drive down for a visit!!!

I wonder if she feels the same. I doubt it seeing how Crosby likes to take Eva's belongings...
Yep, that is him. Looking like an angel with a PINK bubba in his mouth!!!
Waiting for everyone to get ready for the day...
He knew we were going to Monkey Joe's. You know, a bouncy play place. Only he was more interested in these half of the time...
The tractor...
The school bus. I think he would have been freaked out had he realized Bozo was behind him. We didn't mention it...
And then there was a race car...
Pretending he just won the Daytona 500...
Proud moment in his world...
He didn't have so much fun sharing the green balloon with this little boy. To give Crosby credit, the bigger kid was not being very nice. His mom was just sitting in a chair, not paying him a bit of attention, so I had to to intervene a time or two. Don't mess with my boy, you got it?? ;)
We had a good 'ole time on the slides...

He learned how to make a "pig face" on the way home. I have that on video and will have to share it later this week...
Oink, Oink...
Who knew he could spend 20 minutes playing peekaboo with a door...
Jessica and Wes are precious friends and we are so happy to finally meet Miss Eva!!

We have plans to pack up the car and head back home tomorrow. Not only is it a 7+ hour drive, we have no idea if we will be able to reach our house. We live in an area that was severely damaged by the flood over the weekend. We are so fortunate that our house sits high up on a hill and appears to have no damage. Our neighbors just had to bust out a window to rescue Nugget since the power was out and the garage door wasn't working. We will be leaving a key next time! I ask that you pray for our city. Lives have been lost. Homes have been completely destroyed. Cleanup is going to take quite a while.
