Jane Claire's 1st Birthday Party!!!

On Sunday afternoon, we celebrated Jane Claire's First Birthday with family and a few friends.  It was a beautiful Spring day and made for perfect party weather.  Of course I was scurrying around at the last second trying to get food cooked and decorations up!  In the end, it all came together and Jane Claire enjoyed her very first birthday!  I will just get right to it!

Of course I had to make a birthday banner for the front door.  It took forever to decide on the "perfect" paper for this glorious occasion.  I think it looked pretty precious when all was said and done...
I printed all of Jane Claire's weekly pictures and hung them from twine in the dining room. Of course I had to have her bunny on display with them.  Oh how I love knowing Crosby picked that bunny out just for her before she was even here!  Such a special gift from a big brother that loves her to pieces...
That sweet bunny ended up being the theme for Jane Claire's celebration.  But more on that in a sec! This was the cake table.  I was kind of in love with the way it turned out...
LeAnne made the "Jane Claire" banner for her Sip-n-See and I held on to it for this very reason!  She made the "Happy Birthday" banners to match.  Love. Them...
OH MY GOODNESS!!! Would you look at this cake...
I seriously could not cut it.  Made Lucy do it.  I am completely in love with her birthday cake!!!  It could not have been more perfect.  Mrs. Tyler is amazing.  It had 2 layers: strawberry and almond.  De.Lish.  And gorgeous!  Go ahead and pin this people.  Go ahead.  It is absolutely pin worthy! ;-)

LeAnne made this precious little pennant topper to go on the cake.,,
You wouldn't know this because I apparently never posted any pictures of Jane Claire's room... But, the monogram is the same one that is over her bed.  And the design on either side of the monogram on the topper is the same design above and below the monogram over her bed!  Is that as clear as mud?  Maybe room pictures would help?!?  I am seriously going to do it.  Seriously...

Close up of the big cake, the smash cake, as sweet picture of Baby Jane Claire and the invitation...

Even closer of the smash cake, invitation and picture...
Initially, I did not plan on a "theme".  I was just going to do various shades of pink and keep it simple.  I looked on Etsy for invitations and had a few saved.  The bunny was included.  I liked it but didn't give it too much thought because I had a no theme theme in mind.  But something kept drawing me back to the bunny invite.  It finally hit me one day as I was rocking Jane Claire and feeding her.  Hello!!!  She has her weekly picture taken with...a BUNNY!!!  We HAVE to do a bunny theme!!! :-)

LeAnne made adorable bunny labels for the food table...
How cute are these?!?  And Lucy brought the lettuce wedges to finish the look.  Adorable...
Too bad I failed to take a picture of the whole spread.  It looked so pretty filling the table.  Oh well.  It is hard to be the photographer and host of a party all at the same time!  On the menu was a cheese ring, jalapeño poppers, pb&j on banana bread, buffalo chicken dip and a twice baked potato of sorts.  Of course cake and almond tea were served too!  Of course things took longer to bake than was anticipated but it all tasted great!

Enough on the decor and food.  On to the sweet baby we were celebrating!  Jane Claire had a dress made to match the bunny on her invitation.  Precious...
We made an attempt to get a family picture before she dug into  her cake.  She was more interested in making her favorite face...
Maybe she knew we would get moving with the sweet stuff.  I made a fabric backdrop to hang in front of the fireplace and placed her highchair in front of it.  And of course, LeAnne made a banner to go on the front that matched the bunny theme...
She looked so sweet as she waited for the singing to start...
Bringing out her smash cake with one little candle...
There were plenty of little ones eager to help blow out her candle...
Then it was time for Jane Claire to dig in.  She was not shy about that...
Love that darling little hand...
Starting to get a little messy...
"Are you going to let me keep doing this??"

"This is kinda fun!!"
"I wonder if I can lick all of this off?!?"
"Or somehow save it for later!!"
We had one messy, little baby!

And here are a few videos in case the pictures weren't enough! :-)

Meanwhile, the big kids headed outdoors.  How cute are they???
Jane Claire's sweet friend, Sadie, turned one last month!  We had to get a picture of the birthday girls in their pink dresses...
We had a wardrobe change into the clean, smocked bunny dress Lulu made for the occasion...
Then we opened a few gifts...

She got lots of sweet things from her family and friends...

She won't stay still so we will have to find the perfect picture to go in her new frame!!!  I can't wait to she a picture of her in this hanging on the wall...
I love taking a picture of the children with all of their guests.  I managed to catch most everyone before they had to leave.  Jane Claire, Melissa and Margaret ON Melissa's birthday!!!  How sweet of her to spend it with us!!!
The Spencers with Jane Claire. You can only see 4 people but there is a tiny baby in Danielle's belly!!  So very excited to have another Spencer on the way...

I just loved these pictures of Jane Claire playing with Pop...
"Hey.  What is in there!?!?"
"Did you just bite me??"
Our family!
In many ways, it feels like Jane Claire has always been a part of our family.  It is hard to remember what life was like without her in it!  At the same time, it feels like she was born yesterday. Time is funny that way.  April 2, 2012 was a glorious day for our little family.  We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, a daughter we could finally bring home.  We truly received a gift the day Jane Claire came into this world.  She is a precious little girl that has brought so much joy into our lives.  We are so thankful for this child.

The most beautiful decoration at the party was not purchased or made.  It was the cherry blossom standing in our front yard. I had hoped the blooms would be present on Jane Claire's birthday and the day of the party.  They were...
I would like to believe it was a gift from her big sisters.  What a precious gift...
