Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 23 weeks old!!! And we spent this day AT HOME!!!We arrived back in the good 'ole USofA on Saturday at 7:00 pm. We made it to our house at 2:22 am Sunday morning. Needless to say, we spent the past 2 days recovering from a 9 day vacation, if you count the drive to and from Atlanta.
As I stated last Monday, the week got off to a rough start. We were all in shock for a few days, trying to figure out how to have fun when half of the family wasn't even with us. Then we noticed Crosby had a fever on Sunday that stuck with him until midday Tuesday. Fortunately, Tylenol and Motrin kept him from being completely miserable. By Tuesday night, the fever broke and he seemed to be doing better. He just had a runny nose and a cough the rest of the week. We aren't sure what he had but it was enough to make him pretty crabby over the course of the week. Good thing I packed his "crab" swim suit, his "crab" PJs and his "crab" T-shirt!!
They were very appropriate!! ;)
We had to work hard to keep our little fella happy. He did not want to sit in one place long. He wanted to be moving constantly. He wanted out of the room. He wanted to go up and down the elevator. He wanted to be in and out of the baby pool. He wanted to treat the big pool like the baby pool and walk around it unassisted. Too bad he is only 33ish inches tall. Not the 4+ feet needed to accomplish that goal. Mr. Independent needed the assistance of his parents or grandparents, like it or not!!! We had one sure fire way to make him happy...
Oh yea. The water slide was our saving grace...This activity lead to many a smile!!!View of the ocean...from the pool!!! Sick baby sleeping with his daddy... :(
Owning the baby pool...
Little ham...
Tolerating my assistance...
Think we got that forehead covered well enough????
A game of toss could bring out a smile as well...
Back and forth. Back and forth. No wonder my back started hurting...
Since someone wasn't feeling well for much of the trip, we had a hard time getting a good family picture. This is about as good as it gets...
Blake looking less than thrilled about it...
One of our favorite restaurants was La Habichuela Sunset. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. A lot of work was required to keep this little fella happy during dinner most nights... My necklace was the perfect distraction for at least 15 minutes... That and shoveling guacamole in his mouth... And leaving it there...
And then there wer tickles...

And more tickles... He had a few mellow moments...

While he was peaceful, I played with the camera...
And I should say this dish was worthy of a picture. Is that not the most beautiful piece of grouper you have ever seen??? Oh yea, it tasted just as good as it looks...
The Concepcion, the waiter, won the award for baby entertainer of the night. He made Mayan Coffee for Lulu and Perd. I may not be a coffee drinker but this would be worth ordering just to see them make it. You'll see why! Heating the glasses...
Heating one kind of liquor or another to go in the coffee. Sorry, none of us are up on our liquor...
Pouring into different containers, which he did 4 or 5 times, at least...
Then he made a little fountain and poured it into the glass. Oh, and there is the liquor he used. I am sure it all the alcohol was burned off by the time he was finished with it...
I am not really sure what he was doing at this point but it was cool whatever it was...
And the final product. Clearly the coolest cup of coffee I have ever seen! Like I said, I am not a coffee drinker at all but this stuff was pretty good. Minus the coffee flavor. Buddy said he was going to start making them every morning for Lucy. I wonder how that is going???
The view from our room...

Just walking around, looking like such a big boy...

We didn't spend much time on the beach at all. Crosby is not a fan of the sand or the ocean! We had to pull out toys to distract him in an attempt to get a few pictures on the beach...

It worked for a few minutes...
Kind of reminds me of this picture, only the beach version...

And then he was done. "Can I please get out of this sand????"

Crosby with Perd and Lulu...

Me and the boy. Him still not liking the beach...
While we were taking pictures, we noticed this bottle and bouquet washed up on the beach. In it were the vows of Nick and Dolly, married on June 4th at "5 o'clock somewhere". Let's just say we need to keep this couple in our prayers. Maybe I will share their classy words in another post so you can understand our concern...

One last shot of the beach...

He may not have liked the sand, but he was all about rinsing it off!!!

Getting in a final nap before heading back to the US...

He was OUT. We were in the room, packing all around him and he didn't even budge. We finally had to wake him up. This is what he thought about it...

Riding in his airport carseat/stroller. Lets just say this little gadget made traveling home quite nice...
Giving out kisses in the airport...
Sound asleep...

He slept during most of our flight home. Wouldn't you know he woke up just in time to "fill his britches." And of course it was during the most turbulent part of the trip. I was trying my best to stand up on my own 2 feet while keeping him from rolling off the changing table into the toilet. I had to supress my desire to freak out over the bumpy ride. I had to take one for the team and put on a brave face for the little one. "No, mommy is not scared out of her mind right now..."

So I have a little prayer request. May seem silly but I am doing it anyway. We were carrying about 500 items through the airport and managed to lose a carry-on somewhere between Concourse E and Baggage Claims. As of today, it has not been reported to lost and found. The reason I ask for prayer, is because there are 2 sentimental things in there to both Lucy and myself. We are just hoping it is in the hands of someone with a compassionate heart who will return it to us...

Since we have been gone, and really since we have been home again, Crobsy has really started to say more words. A few of the latest:

Elevator, Juice, Help, Garbage Truck, Tractor, Milk, Egg

Of course they don't sound as clearly as I have them written but we know what he is saying. That's what counts...right??

Speaking of that garbage truck. They were late today. Wouldn't you know, they came at 2:30, right during the middle of his nap. As soon as I heard it, I ran upstairs to see if he would hear it. I thought I was in the clear...and then..."Cuck!!!!!" I had to snatch the wild-haired, diaper wearing kid straight out of bed and out the front door. He was thrilled. I had to get on to them for being so late. The guy on the back of the truck said he has a new driver. Greaat! I am hoping they get back on track REAL soon. I can't have them interupting his nap every Monday...even if he still slept 3 hours. I pefer the 3 1/2 or 4 he normally takes!!

I will post a few videos from the trip tomorrow...maybe...

Looks like a wonderful trip! What car seat/stroller gadget did you use? I've been looking at a few different ones for an airplane trip I'm making with Audrey and can't decide what to get.
