Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 40 weeks old!!! I won't even bother mentioning it was a busy week because I do that all the time now. I guess that goes without saying these days. The past few weeks have been a little more hectic than normal, it seems. We have been on the road.
We spent the weekend on Monteagle with The Ricks and The Woottens. Melissa's parents were gracious enough to open their beautiful home to us. 8 adults and 3 kiddos under one roof! Seeing how ours was Mr. Fussbucket all weekend, it was probably more like having 10 kiddos!!! I am afraid the terrible 2's are rapidly approaching, if not already here. But we won't talk about all of that right now. On to the the weekend...
Crosby and Margaret had a pre-breakfast chat in their Adirondack chairs. I am not sure what they were planning but I am sure the one on the left was up to no good...

Maybe they were trying to imagine all the animals we would encounter at the Chattanooga Aquarium. Like this sting ray...

Or these penguins...

Or this...errr...fish...

Oh Wait! That is John Christopher! He loved crawling up into the middle of this the tank! Who can blame him?!? The fish were amazing! I was pretty impressed with the jelly fish myself...

And the sharks...

Crosby. He wasn't too impressed with any of it. All he wanted to do was go up and down the escalator. Forget fish, turtles, birds, butterflies, eels. He wanted to ride the stinkin' escalators!!! Seriously sweet boy??? Had we known that, we would have saved our $24.50 and spent the day at the mall! And why we thought it was a good idea to have a sit down meal afterward I will never know! Things look pretty calm below...
That was until I had to pull out the DVD player to keep the kiddos from melting down. Ours being the most needy of all!
At least we were able to use said DVD player to keep him awake for the drive back to the house and put him down for a proper nap. And nap he did. So we thought we were good to go. Why not go throw rocks in the lake before dinner? Looks pretty innocent below...

Two sweet boys, right?

Of course John Christopher and Margaret were having a good ole time. But wait... Who is that off in the distance?

Yea, that would be Blake chasing Crosby, who was not content throwing rocks in the lake. He wanted to be in the lake! And Crosby was none too pleased when he did not get his way. He let his feelings be known. He refused to take a picture with me...

And didn't cooperate for dinner either. Yes, we reached an all time low by pulling out the DVD player AGAIN just to enjoy a peaceful meal. What have we come to folks??? Let me just say this will NOT be happening again anytime soon!
We got up Sunday morning to a HUGE breakfast prepared by Melissa's mom. French toast and bacon. Seriously some of the best of both I have EVER had!!! My mouth is watering just typing about it...
We attempted a group shot before heading out for a hike. Not bad considering all 6 adults and 3 kids are actually looking at the camera. Too bad Crosby needed to show off his "muscles" at the time!

The Ricks, The Woottens and The Malones...

The three of us...
Mouth open? Hand in mouth? I guess it is a toss up as to which is better!

The girls: Me, Melissa and Joanna...

We thought we should make one last attempt to get a picture of all 3 kids, seeing how all other failed miserably. We plopped them up on the swing and Melissa burst out into their favorite song from music class ("Trot Ole Joe" if you were wondering!) and absolutely saved the day...

All looking up with a semi smile!!!
Sweet things...

We set out on a hike right before we all had to leave. How adorable that Crosby walked up to Margaret and grabbed her hand. Of course he let go by the time I caught up to him for a close up... Dads and Babes...

Family picture at the end of the trail...
What a wonderful weekend with great friends!!! We could not have asked for better weather. It was perfect...cold enough to burn a fire in the fireplace but warm enough to enjoy being outside. I don't want to invite myself or anything but I can't wait to do it again!!! :)
We headed back to Nashville just in time to put Crosby down for a nap. Then we headed back out for a carnival at Crosby's school. We were so worn out that I hardly took any pictures. But at least you can tell we had a good time... Well, minus the look on Crosby's face... ;)

Love all the pics . . . need to bring over a CD, so you can copy them for me!!! We had a great time with you guys--can't wait to do it again soon!
P.S. Margaret refused to sleep at night (notice the bags under my eyes). I don't know which one is worse crabby all night or crabby at meals. . . if only I could put the DVD player in her pack n' play!!!

Kara, I agree! Danielle, write a book! I laugh out loud every time I read this crazy blog, and Billy think I'm losing my mind! :)

P.S. As Xmas approaches, and family members are already starting to ask ideas, I have a favor....could you do one of your "My favorite things" blogs again? Specifically, could you make it for a 9+month old toddler...did I just say toddler, I mean a tiny little 9+month old baby....here we go!!
