Mondays With Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox was 6 weeks old. You read it right...6 WHOLE weeks!!! He has changed quite a bit in such a short amount of time. I decided to take a few more perspective pictures to document his growth. I should have done it at one month. (bad mom :)) So... 6 weeks will have to do. My new plan is to take them at each "month birthday," which I have concluded to be the 29th vs every 4 weeks. However, there is a slight problem with February only having 28 days. There is no 29th this year. Will he be 2 months on March 1st then?? Uggghhh...such a mess!

Pardon my thinking out loud! Back to the star of the show! Sweet Crosby is nearly 8 pounds. We did another unofficial weigh in at the vet clinic on Friday. With a diaper, onesie and socks on, he weighed 7 lbs 13 oz!! He still likes to eat every 3 hours, most of the time. Occasionally, I can squeak a 4th hour in there if I am lucky! He loves to eat and it is starting to show...

Is it just me or is that a double chin???

Next to his bear...

Nugget wanted to participate :)

New shot!!! Crosby next to his bear...in his chair...

Big feet, little feet...

I know this is a strange angle...But if you look closely, you can see what appears to be a smile!! And it is not at me...

It's at Nugget!!!!
Little head...

Big hand, little hand

This is a picture of Crosby from the night we roomed in with him in the NICU at Baptist. Lesley found this gown that fits up to 5 lbs. Even though he was a little "overweight," it fit him perfectly. Well, the length was a little short but you get the idea.

I decided to put it back on today...

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry!!! His belly was testing the strength of the velcro fasteners, to say the least!! And those legs just crack me up!! I am having to rearrange his closet and drawers for the "no longer fits" pile. My baby boy is growing too fast!!
We are working on another big goal today. I am trying to let Crosby soothe himself to sleep. As much as I want to hold him and rock him ALL DAY LONG, I know he needs to be able to fall asleep on his own. So today was the first day his has napped in his crib. Round 1 went perfectly. I swaddled him in one of his favorite blankets (the giraffe, today, in case you wanted to know!!), laid him in the bed, stuck the WubbaNub in his mouth and turned his new Sleep Sheep on rain and...wallah! Perfection!! No cries or anything. We are in the midst of round 2. A few cries initially but now he is quiet! He has had a harder time falling asleep and staying asleep over the past week or so. I am hoping this works for him so he can fall asleep easily. It makes my heart hurt to see him upset because he can't fall asleep. Will let you know how it goes!!!
*I am have had another shower and am working on the pictures from both. They will be up this week for sure!!!
**You may have noticed a few things look different in the nursery compared to the day we came home! Let's just say his designer has already changed a few things around. Artwork will be going on the wall above his bed pretty soon. I will just wait until it is all completed before I update!
***If you haven't gotten a thank you note, you are not alone! I am working on those right now. I am not good at writing one liners on a card and then sticking the in the mail! I tend to write a small book...imagine that!! :) So bear with me as I get them out!!

The before and after pic in the 5lb gown is absolutely amazing! I kept looking back and forth just knowing it wasn't the same outfit! He is such a little inch worm...growing and growing! Good luck with the napping...I'm sure he will be as independent and strong as his parents...self-soothing as you both have done on so many occasions. It does sound sad, but it's a gift you can give him now that will be forever used in the future. Such a sign of a healthy mom to be concerned, though! You are doing amazing!!! jill
P.S. I HATED I had to miss last week! Those pipes just had to freeze on my visiting day! :(

Wow! Little Crosby is turning into big Crosby!

Our dog, Princess, has always stolen the show and received Liesl smiles. Those furry animals are just so captivating.

I applaud you for working on self-soothing now. I definitely waited too long. I completely understand you just wanting to hold him for naps...he looks such a cuddle bug! We have that same Sleep Sheep. I'm glad it's working for you. Today was actually the first day it soothed her to sleep. Our electricity went out and her "white noise" (air filter) wasn't working so I tried the sheep and it worked on the ocean setting. She never liked it when she was younger. So funny how every baby is so different and has their own little personality at such young ages!

Good luck w/ the soothing to sleep stuff. I think it is a great thing for babies and will be so worth it when they are toddlers at naptime/bedtime. We started around 8 wks old w/ Natalie... white noise, dark room, swaddled tight. We read LOTS of sleep books if you ever want any recommendations! :)

Miss you and hope I get to meet Crosby one day!
