Mondays With Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby turned 5 weeks old! As I state every week, time is flying and really needs to slow down a bit. I thought I would save the latest weight report for today. I went to see the lactation consultant on Friday and our little man weighed in at 6 pounds 13 ounces!! He had gained over an ounce a day since our last appointment. Not to brag, but she said that is slightly above average! Assuming he has continued at that rate, he should be right at 7 pounds today! What a big boy!!
It is crazy to think we went from looking like this on December 22, 2008...

to this on January 9, 2009!!

While there are some parts of pregnancy I miss, I prefer having Mr. Crosby out of the womb and cuddled in my arms!! Or snug as a bug in the sling! Since the weather has been so nice, we took the boys for a walk at the park on Saturday. Nugget was beside himself as we trucked through the fields of Percy Warner Park. He was wild on the leash, chasing something in the grass we could not see. Little Crosby kept me nice and warm while tucked away in the sling. For added protection, I had a fleece jacket zipped on top of that! Someone asked if I was carrying a puppy. Not quite...just a nearly 5 week old baby! She asked his gender, followed by his name. Turns out she knows a Crosby in Ohio!!! So there are at least 2 out there now!

Yesterday, we pulled out the stroller and took our first neighborhood walk as a family of 4...yes we count Nugs. It felt great to be outside, although the walk is a little more tiring than it was last year! : ) I'm getting there...

Crosby continues to be awake and alert more often. He has started visually tracking objects, like his Mickey rattle. He watches Blake walk from one side of the room to the other. What good vision our little fellow has! Maybe the Expecta (DHA supplement) I have been taking all this time has done its job!

Crosby is most alert in the morning. We talk and play the whole time he is awake. It looks as if he is on the verge of giving me a real smile! Though I know it will be a thrilling sight, I will patiently wait until that day comes. I will just enjoy his sweet "coos" for now!

Last night, Crosby left a little surprise for me! We are trying out a new brand of diaper. I was pretty sure I didn't like them as soon as I opened the pack. There was no sweet baby smell. Not to mention they appeared to leave lots of room for disaster. Sure enough...disaster struck on me!! I am sure this was only the first of many blowouts to come!! But who cares when this face is looking back at you?

hahaha, I love that you don't mind the diaper disasters because you're so in love with him :) that's such a great picture of what motherhood should be (or what i imagine it should be i guess). how happy - and those pictures are so great to see, what a difference a month and a half makes, huh?

Ok--I am so jealous that Jill gets to see Crosby tomorrow-without me! Well, lucky her....and mom! We are still trying to get well around here so I wouldn't bring any of our germy friends to you, Blake or Crosby.
Wow--he is really changing-little sweetie! Isn't it fun when they are really concentrating on you and you know they just want to smile.....before you know it, you'll get one--it's the best! Thanks for sharing the pictures!
