Is it just me?

Or is this the most random story you have ever heard?

Blake and a friend went to the Predators game tonight. Like a sweet husband, he called to check in on me. Since all was well, he told me they were about to start the third quarter so he should be home in about an hour. Then he proceeds to tell me, "Oh, and I just got a free flu shot." Excuse me? I sat here trying to process what he said. Surely I heard wrong. So I asked him to repeat what he said. Nope, nothing changed. "I just got a free flu shot."

I immediately start laughing my head off (not good for those with child) and repeat the story to my parents and a friend. They found the story amusing as well. Since when do hockey games and flu shots go together??? "The Sommet Center: home to concerts, sporting events, CMA's...and flu shots." Who knew?

Just had to share... :)

Sort of a plan...

My numbers were up a tad at today's appointment, 18mm. That was good to hear. Indocin was able to keep my contractions at bay since starting it Monday night. I am sad to report I took my last pill yesterday at noon. I love that stuff because it works so well at stopping my contractions. But, it isn't good for the baby at this point so we had to part ways! My only "ammunition" at this point is 60mg of procardia daily and 25mg of terbutaline 6x/day. If things start to pick up in the next 2 weeks, my only other option is admission to Baptist and IV magnesium sulfate! Beyond 34 weeks, magnesium will be out of order. If procardia and terbutaline don't do the trick at that point, baby boy will just have to make his grand appearance!!

We hit a HUGE milestone by making it to 32 weeks and for that we are grateful. We would love for him to stay put as long as possible. That being said, I am hoping the current meds will be sufficient enough to buy us a little more time. I would love to make it to 34 weeks without having to use magnesium. Because I have already started to see an increase in contraction activity tonight, I am not sure that is possible. But, what do I know?? I am not in control of this situation for sure.

Yikes!!!! That is about all I can say right now! He could be here before we know it. I am just praying for a safe delivery and healthy baby boy whenever that time may be. For now, I will try my best to simply rest in Him and wait...

As of 8:33pm

We've got a little more time! It was negative!!!! :) What other doctor calls at 8:33? How great is Dr. B??

Am I dreaming?

Or is it December and I am still pregnant??? According to the news and all of the calendars I have seen today, it is the case! Who would have thought? I know Blake and I are amazed. We were totally expecting this little guy to be here in November. Thrilled to say we were wrong on that!! I forgot to ask Dr. B if he was surprised I made it this far but I am pretty sure I know what his response would be! :) I have gotten pretty good at reading his mind! I proved that today and have a witness to back me up.

My appointment wasn't that out of the ordinary. The ole cervix was shorter than last week, somewhere between 10mm and 8mm. To be honest, I never asked what the final report said. (NEVER would have done that a few weeks ago...low numbers don't phase me much these days) While waiting to see Dr. B, A.C. asked what I thought he would have to say about my cervical length. I said it would probably depend on the results of the fFN. If it was positive, he would likely admit me. If it was negative, he would not admit me and just see me in the office later this week. It took quite a while to get his thoughts because he was off delivering a baby. However, when he finally saw me, his response was just as I had guessed! I also thought he may give me one more round of Indocin before the 32 week cutoff date...and he did! I am also back to taking terbulatine every 4 hours.

So what is the verdict? Positive or negative? Looks like we won't know that answer until tomorrow morning. I was the last patient of the day so my results didn't come back before he left. He said I would hear from him first thing in the morning. We are really hoping for a negative! Not only would a negative keep me out of the hospital, it would also get me close to 34 weeks without going into labor! 32 is the goal for now. Wednesday seems possible to me!

Praying for a negative! Will let you know when I do!

Abundance

There is so much to be thankful for not only on this day, but everyday. I wanted to take a few
moments to mention a few things that come to mind. In no particular order...

Blake, Nugget, parents (both sets!!), siblings and their families, aunts, uncles, cousins, Grandmother, high school friends, college friends, church friends, work friends, blog friends, Otter Creek Church staff and family, Woodmont Hills church family, FBC Columbia church family, churches in Alabama, Tennessee, Texas and Georgia that have prayed for our family, meals we have received for 14 weeks, phone calls of concern and encouragement, prayers that I know about and those that I don't, being anointed with oil and prayed over, email, blog comments, Facebook comments, text messages, friends taking me to and from appointments, support from Blake's boss and co-workers, Blake's job being .6 miles from our house, financial provision during economic difficulty, insurance, our home, our education, our freedom in the US, our military, Finley Grace, Caroline Grace, the blessings that have followed because our daughters short lives, this little boy who has spent 31 weeks and 1 day inside of me, Dr. B, Dr. C, their nurses and staff, the nurses that cared for me while I was in Baptist, prayer, salvation,
grace, the Trinity, forgiveness...

We are blessed beyond measure. We have been given far more than we "deserve" while
"deserving" none of it. It is my hope that we all take time to count our blessings on this day of thanksgiving.

There are several families around us who are spending their first Thanksgiving without their father/husband/grandfather. Thinking of the Curtis family, the Cochran family, and the Meador family today...

Another update

While not as good as the last two visits, today's appointment went well. My numbers were down a little today, 18-20mm. I can't say that I was all that surprised. I have had a few more contractions in the past couple of days. I took terb, which seemed to do the trick. I am still armed with a round of Indocin if needed for the next few days. He gave it to me last week "just in case" and I haven't needed it so far...

The little guy isn't as small anymore! His estimated weight was 3 lbs 8 oz. It is very exciting to see those numbers go up. Oh how I hope he hits 4 lbs while still tucked away, safely, inside!! It will be another 2 weeks before they take another weight estimate and that will be 2 days shy of 33 weeks!!!! Let's just get to 31 first! I am starting to get way ahead of myself.

The only bad news was EXTREMELY minor. I won't be taking that wheelchair trip to Target until next week! That is if things are still stable. "Let's get to 32 first." Of course, I am not going to argue with that one! What is another week at home when you only been to the hospital for the past 14 weeks? I think I can manage one more. I will only get out of Dr. B thinks it is safe. I am not going to take any risks when we have gotten this far!!

If all goes well, I will not go back to see Dr. B until next Monday. While I was relieved to hear he will be in town over Thanksgiving, I don't want to see him until December 1st!!!!!December... WOW! Who would have thought 14 weeks ago it was even possible for me to make it to December???? We are so blessed...
