Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 30 weeks old!!! To celebrate, we took a thrilling trip to Target and Wal Mart! I am pretty sure he didn't not enjoy it much at all. Well, except when a lady that starting talking to him about being the only person smiling in the store. Surely there were a few more smiling faces in Wal Mart that she missed!?! Crosby couldn't have been the only one. I am pretty sure I did! Maybe there was just something about his face that caught her attention! That is what I am going with... ;)

Who wouldn't be drawn to this kid?
Or is it just a mother's bias??
I pulled out the 50mm for the first time in a while a snapped a few pictures while Crosby was playing in the yard Saturday afternoon. I think he looks like a wild man in this one and I LOVE it...
Then he puts on his flirty face...
And then he just turns all sweet...
Have I ever mentioned I am crazy about this boy??
Looking back at these pictures makes me a little sad. We decided his hair had gotten a little unruly. He sports a lot of hair in the back and not so much on top. So I attempted to even things up a bit. Now I am thinking I should have just left that sweet head alone! It will grow back...right? You will see what I mean...
I got to spend a few hours today with this itty bitty bundle of joy...

Emery Claire came for a visit. It sure got me all fuzzy inside when I held this tiny, little one. She is just adorable! Crosby was semi interested in her. For moments anyway. He attempted to kiss her on the head a few times. Just like he does to the cat. Seeing how that usually ends up with Pixie (at least I think that is what we are calling her...) getting hurt or Crosby being scratched, I encouraged him to keep his distance! At least he was asleep for much of the visit...
My cousin moved to Nashville this weekend. We had a nice family gathering at Brick Tops. We were outside until a tornado moved through town!!! Luckily we were safe.
Despite being a little tired, Crosby was surprisingly well behaved...
We actually got a great picture of the whole family, minus me...
Now that is a first for sure!!!

Found it...

Don't you love it when you hide something so no one will find it. Then it ends up being you that can't find it!! Yep. That's what happened. I had the camera in the cup holder of my car but felt that wasn't the safest location. Therefore, I decided to put it in another compartment so no one would be tempted to break in and steal my precious video! I checked the cup holder on Monday, thinking it was the last place I had seen it. Totally forgot about the safety compartment...

Anyway, Crosby started doing this the other night...

video

Hilarious!!! He got mad at the end of dinner for one reason or another. I was probably trying to get him to take one more bite or something! Anyway, he straightened out those arms, clinched his fist and just started to shake all over out of frustration. Blake and I probably should have gotten on to him. But all I could do was bust out laughing at his little fit. As did Blake. Then Crosby tried to get mad again but even he started laughing. Next thing you know, he was doing it over and over as we all laughed. I just had to get the camera and share. This kid is a mess, let me tell you...

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 29 weeks old!!! This week started with a visit to Dr. P's office. He weighed in at 24.8 pounds. I'm a bit confused because one chart has one percentile, the other is slightly different. That being said, that has him in the 29th or 35th percentile. He is 34 inches tall which puts him in the 88th or 94th percentile. His head is 47.5 cm, which is the 39th or the 46th percentile. Add that all up amd the boy has a BMI of...4%! Good grief. What I would give for that BMI!!! Dr. P says he is a perfect size. He mentioned the fact that most grandparents attempt to "fatten up" lean grandchildren. Ahhheemmm. He said it is not necessary. :)

We went to Parmer Park on Sunday. We saw a few people come in go, but he practically had the place to himself. He loves to run all over the place. Forget the playground when there is a good hill to climb up...
And down...
Over and over.
Or steps to conquer...
With a little help from LeAnne. Which is the only way I got to take pictures!!!
Then it was time for a little break...
He decided the playground wasn't so bad after all. He loves a good slide...
The higher the better in his mind. The boy is fearless...
Can you tell he plays hard???
"Enough with the camera, mom!!!" At least his eye is in great focus! It would have been a good picture...
Looking like the wild man he is...
Watching planes. There had to have been AT LEAST seen 20 planes fly over in the hour and a half we were at the park. Maybe I haven't payed attention in the past, but we have never seen that much air traffic at Parmer! Apparently there were lots of folks flying on Sunday though! Crosby sure appreciated it...
First time drinking out of a water fountain...
Which quickly turned into just playing in the water fountain...
Have I ever mentioned this child is ALL BOY??? Well, he is! I probably hear the word truck at least 100 times per day. Anything that has a motor and wheels is a truck in Crosby's mind. Actually, there doesn't even have to be a motor involved. Just wheels will do. You can only imagine the excitement this little fella feels when his dad cranks up the ole lawn mower. Crosby just stands there in complete awe. He thinks his dad is pretty awesome behind a mower. He just thinks his dad is awesome, period...
"Are you seeing this???"
"So cool."
"Could I possibly ride on top of that mower?" And he can now say "mower"...
Watching the mower roll by...
Deep in thought about the mower...
Doing his sleepy arm rub thing that just melts my heart...
Crosby has started a new trick. Unfortunately, I seem to have misplaced my little camera. I guess that means I will be posting a video later this week. That is if I ever find the camera...

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 28 weeks old!!! As usual, we have maintained a pretty busy schedule this week. The bad news is that I have (once again...) been terrible about documenting our adventures with the camera. Then I get mad at myself on Monday's for not taking more pictures. I used to be a picture taking queen. I literally took my camera every where. I had to scrapbook everything we did. Let's just say I don't even know what a scrapbook looks like anymore.

That leaves me talking about our week in words! Thrilling, I know... At least I have a few pictures from our Tuesday adventures. It started with a trip the the Maryland Farms with our Twentynine Palms pals, the Normans. The kiddos had a good ole time playing in the pool. As usual, our fearless 18 month old was the only child his size going down the slide over and over and over. When meltdowns started to occur, we decided to head over the Joey's House of Pizza. Our youth minister talked it up in a sermon a few weeks ago so Blake and I have been eager to try it ever since! And you wouldn't believe who was leaving when we pulled up...David. Our youth minister! He was so excited we were there. A few pictures of our trip to Joey's. Keep in mind we are straight out of the pool...

Me and Jaime...

Jaime and Miss Scout... John and Blake...

It was nearly impossible to get a picture of the kids. This is the best I could do. Scout and Crosby were exhausted and would not cooperate. Johnny and Charlie were a piece of cake!

Crosby, Johnny and Charlie...

Johnny trying his best to get a smile out of Crosby. At least Johnny looks sweet!

We had adult only dinner with the Normans and the Morgans later that evening. It was so much fun to hang out and eat a meal without worrying about the kiddos! Too bad I took my camera but failed to use it. We all looked pretty spiffy that night! Use your imaginations!

Crosby and I started a music class on Wednesday. Music Together. I was worried that Crosby would be a wild man, seeing how he rarely sits down. But he was great and we really enjoyed it.

We were in Columbia on Tuesday, visiting my parents. My mom had a friend visiting and she wanted to meet the little guy. So we spent the morning watching him run around my parents house. And sure, I had the camera that day too, but took zero pictures. Mom did. Guess I should have gotten those!

We had a surprise 60th (yes I said 60th) birthday party for my dad on Friday night, although the big day was actually Sunday. Cake. Ice cream. A house full of family and friends. Good times. Mom has pictures of that as well. Should have gotten those, too.

Saturday was spent hanging out with the Normans minus John. We attempted the park but it was so hot we only lasted 20 minutes tops. Good thing Phillips Toy Mart was right down the street! We spent an hour or so looking the store over. The kiddos were in heaven, or so they thought! We got home and attempted naps. Crosby was the only one that actually slept...his usual 3+ hours! Then we pulled out the sprinkler. That is where I got the first picture and this silly one of Miss Scout...

And here is a little footage...
video

And I know it is hard to believe, but things got a little more classy. Thanks to Johnny, we caught it all on camera...

Sunday was church lunch and a super sweet baby shower. Of course no pictures. Yesterday was playing with the Normans and Morgans in Spring Hill day. My camera didn't even make it to the car! Maybe Sonja will share...

It was a BUSY week but a fun week. This one will be very similar, starting with an 18 month appointment tomorrow. Only that won't be much fun for Crosby. 3 shots are scheduled. :( I'll have to let you know how it goes...

***sorry this was a little late. i was having problems with a video. found out it was because a certain little miss pulled off her diaper and a bare bum was shown! nice to know blogger is all about protecting the kiddos!!! so it is all Scout's fault! :) ***

Mondays with Crosby

At 11:24 am, Crosby Fox turned 1 year and 27 weeks old!!! I didn't know if I would make it through this week. But as you can see, I did! And just like most situations, the anticipation was much worse than that the actual event. The hardest part of leaving Crosby for the weekend was this...
I admit, I was choking back the tears at this point. There was just something about seeing him in the car seat, being driven away... Thankfully, our car was packed and ready to go. We headed out right after my parents did. Once we were on the road, I was fine. As for Crosby, I don't even think he realized we were gone!
He went to a 4th of July party with my parents on Friday night. From what I have heard, he went for a swim with Pop, ate like a champ ( including corn on the cob) and was a sweet boy most of the night!
The pictures and videos indicate he spent most of Saturday outside! Well minus this one...
I had to put this one on there for my sake. It is the perfect shot of him making his sleepy sign. If he is tired, all you have to do is give him his bubba and he will cross his arms and start rubbing the opposite arm with the opposite hand. It really is sweet to watch. Sometimes he will even rub my arm. Even sweeter! Maybe I can get that on video for my sake one of these days...
For now, this is the way Grammie and Crosby like to roll...
video
Is that a wagon ride or what?? I am afraid we can't compete with the grandparents!! They ended up at this street...
In case you can't see, the street is named "Crosby Court"! Too bad the neighborhood existed before he did or we could tell him the street was named after him! I suppose it could work for a few years anyway...
He went to visit Mr. Stanley and got to "ride" on the "tractor"...
And then Mr. Stanley showed him how to ride a bicycle... Then he got to play in the sprinkler system... videoAnd the street! Good thing the roads are empty most of the time! :) Once again, we can't top the grandparents who have a nice, flat driveway and street! We have to deal with a steep driveway and street!
Meanwhile, Blake and I were enjoying the day in Cincinnati. I did a little shopping while he played golf with the guys. Then we met back up and went to Jimmy and Kati's wedding. Here's the proof...
And here we are with the bride and groom...sort of...
We finally got our hands back on our sweet boy yesterday afternoon. Wouldn't you know the child who was perfect all weekend woke up in the crabbiest of moods for us! Isn't that how it goes? Great for the grandparents, bad for the parents! I didn't care. It just gave me the chance to cuddle up with my little man and rock for a while. At least until he was distracted by a visit to a friend's house...
Crosby and his buddy, John Christopher, enjoyed playing outside with the bubbles while waiting to eat dinner...
He is all about giving kisses away these days. Even to friends who happen to be boys...
Sweet friends...
This was AFTER dinner. The boys were trying to the their dad's to hurry up already!!! They were ready to take a wagon ride to see the fireworks in Bellemeade!
Blake had to chase the boy ALL OVER the golf course until the show got started...
But once it started...
He sat and watched in awe...
Well, until he heard a much cooler helicopter... Man, this little boy loves anything related to transportation! Forget fireworks...
Blake got his PJ's out last night. Yes, they are from Christmas. And, yes, they are "tight fittin' PJ's" as Blake likes to sing...
I think they are ready for retirement!
